Tayfun Sözer
Tayfun Sözer was born in Tekirdağ in 1951. After finishing high school at Kabataş Erkek High School, he graduated from the Istanbul Technical University Deck Department in 1974.
He began his maritime career with D.B. Sea Shipping Inc. Following that, he spent 25 years at Aygaz A.Ş., which established Turkey’s first LPG marine fleet, working as a captain, inspector, and ship operations director.
He then served as the production and operations director of the yacht division at RMK Shipyard. Later, he joined Sener Holding A.S. as a Board Member responsible for the Ship Management Department. He also worked as the General Director of Marinas at
Yıldız Holding A.Ş. and as the General Director of Istanbul Shipyard, Turkey Gemi Sanayi A.Ş.
With 49 years of experience, he blends a strategic perspective with meticulous attention to detail, gained from leading Turkish institutions. Throughout his career, he has held several high-level roles as a member of various Boards of Directors, where he promoted in-house efficiency, operational excellence, and systematic management philosophy.
Additionally, he has been a member of the Chamber of Shipping Council for 13 years and served as the chairman of the Chemical Carrier and LPG Carrier group for 4 years. He is currently the VicePresident of the Maritime Faculty Foundation and Fleet Manager at ESKO Ship Management & Operations LLC.
